It’s that time of year again when we all need to do our bit for the good of the school.
The parents association AGM is your opportunity to vote for what you want and hear what the PA have been doing for the good of our school and for our children.
It’s vitally important we have as many attend as humanly possible. If we don’t make minimum attendance the AGM cannot go ahead.
This year you don’t even need to leave the comfort of your own living room, feel free to attend in slippers and your evening comfy clothes. This year our meeting will be held via Zoom due to current restrictions. If this is your first meeting please contact us with your email address so we can forward you relevant paperwork.
Please could you contact us to confirm your attendance so we have an idea on numbers.
We would really love you to join our meeting and throw any fund raising ideas our way. This year our fund raising efforts look likely to be entirely virtual, we would love your input as to how we can raise money to further benefit our children.
We are thrilled to announce that we have been generously allowed to hold a mini bazaar for all those children that missed the original Christmas bazaar due to illness. All gifts are £1.50 and don't worry if you disposed of your original gift tags, we will have extra on the day. Please send children into school with a named purse/wallet, a named bag to bring gifts home in and a list for those they would like to buy for.
It’s almost time for the Christmas bazaar, in preparation for Monday we are sending home 4 gift tags per child in the children’s book bags today and tomorrow. All we ask is that you write on each tag who the gift is for. There will be more tags available on the day should your children want to buy any extra gifts. All gifts are priced at £1.50
This is a lovely event organised by the PA for the children to have the opportunity to buy gifts for their family and friends. All presents are wrapped at school ready for the children to take home and put under the tree.
Please can you make sure all money is in a named purse/wallet and the children have a named carrier bag to bring their gifts home in.
You may also want to send the children into school with a little extra money as there will be some games to play and the school council will be selling Reindeer food and chocolates .

PA MEETING - Friday 10th May 2019
Our next PA meeting will be held in the staff room at 2pm. All attendee names will be added to a prize draw and there will be the usual array of goodies and refreshments. If you can't make the meeting you can still email any ideas or suggestions beforehand too which can then be added to the agenda. We hope to see you there!

Fun family camping night - Saturday 8th June 2019. Our school field will be transformed into a pop-up campsite. Enjoy rounders, swimming pool sessions (small additional fee) and BBQ food will also be sold.
£15 for a standard tent or £20 for a six man tent.
NEW! Camping phobes can visit friends on-site with a day pass for just £2pp.
This event can only go ahead if people are kind enough to help us. Like you, we have children to look after so if just 8 parents offer to take a short turn of things like the BBQ then it is viable and there will always be a committee member on hand to help you.

EASTER EGG HUNT
A massive THANK YOU to our Easter Bunnies (Louise, Sarah and Laura) for giving up their day to create and carry out another fantastic Easter Egg Hunt for all of the children in school last Wednesday (3rd April).
The children worked hard solving puzzles in order to be presented with a chocolate egg from the bunnies. We hope that everyone enjoyed this Easter treat from the PA. Happy Easter everyone!
......sooooooo much to all of our wonderful volunteers who helped to make the Mother's Day Plant Sale possible and such a lovely event for the children - we couldn't do it without you all! We hope that every child enjoys giving a special lady in their life something chosen just for them this weekend.
PENNY WARS PRIZES UPDATE!
The Penny Wars prize money is already being put to good use by the winning classes! KS2 winners, 5R, voted to spend their winnings on a class pet and welcomed their pet fish this week with great excitement!
Meanwhile, KS1 winners, Ladybird class, will be spending their prize money on goodie bags for the children when they visit Barleylands.
The school have passed on their thanks to everyone who kindly donated their pennies and to the EFPA for their support and have said how much the children loved taking part in this fundraiser. With thanks to our amazing Andrea for organising this event.
Our little helpers in Breakfast and After School Club have been busy making these little beauties to help raise money for Parkinson's Awareness. Please help support this cause by purchasing these from the school office for a minimum donation of just £1 each. Many thanks for your support of this very worthy cause.

Thanks to every parent that has helped to raise funds through the PA. With your support we have been able to buy the children 4 more interactive whiteboards, totalling £10,000!! Now EVERY classroom in the school has one of these boards, enabling the children to engage interactively with their learning using advanced technology.
The school would not have been able to purchase these boards without the extra funds raised by our wonderful parents, so a big THANK YOU to everyone that has contributed their time and money.
On World Book Day the children took part in a World Book Day Quiz which included video clips from famous authors.
Don't miss out on THE infamous EFPA Summer party featuring local Rayleigh band The Trolley Boys and DJ Moley Lynham! Tickets now available! Book soon to avoid disappointment so that we can ensure we are able to cover the huge cost of the beautiful marquee for all the children to enjoy their end of year summer disco and so that the year 6 children can also have their Leavers Party in it at the end of their last term. It's the highlight of the year for the children and they all look forward to it and love to party in the marquee rather than the smaller school hall. Please see the flyer for full details. We will be holding our annual Mothers Day plant sale on Friday 29th March. Class Teachers will take their classes along during the course of the school day for children to have the opportunity to purchase plants and gifts for the special ladies in their lives.
Gift and plant prices vary between £1.00-£5.00 and children will need a named purse/envelope and named carrier bag for their purchases.
We would be very grateful for parent helpers from 9am onwards on the day please. Any time you can spare would be much appreciated as it's an all day event.
Please let us know what time slot you can assist with ASAP so that we can ensure that adequate cover is provided.
The children always enjoy this event and like to surprise people with their chosen gifts.
The results are in!!! Huge congratulations to Ladybirds class on winning the Penny Wars for KS1 and to 5R for bringing in the most for KS2! A grand total of £768.73 was collected!! A big 'thank you' to everyone that contributed to this fundraiser for the school and to our amazing Andrea Twomey for organising it.

NEXT PA MEETING
As requested by some of our working parents, our next PA meeting will be held on the evening of Wednesday 20th March, 2019 at 7pm in the school staff room. We hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you.

We are aiming to have a camping night on Saturday 8th June 2019. Provisional plans are as follows:-
* Set up on the field from 12pm on Saturday 8th June 2019
* Off the field by 11am on Sunday 9th June 2019
* Pitches are only £15 for tents that hold up to 6 people and £20 for larger tents
* Day guests can join in the fun from 1pm-7pm, only £1 entry per person, capped at £4 per family (day guest prices are provisional at the moment but will be confirmed asap)
* We are hoping to have fun swims too, which will need to be pre-booked (details to follow in due course)
* There will be a bbq in the evening and breakfast the following morning
* We are also hoping to have events/games on the field too - if you have any ideas, please feel free to let us know
PLEASE NOTE -- this event will NOT go ahead unless we have 8 confirmed helpers (mainly for the bbq and breakfast). In the past this event has had to be cancelled due to the lack of volunteers which was a real shame and we really don't want this to happen again, so please let us know ASAP if you are able to help - we promise it'll be fun!

On Thursday 28th February 2019 we will be saying a very sad farewell to our amazing caretaker, Bob, as he begins his well-earned retirement. Bob has been a caretaker at EFPS for many years and has always been such a big help to the PA (setting up/putting away at all of our events and much more). He will be greatly missed by all and we wish him a very happy retirement.

You will hopefully be aware of the fantastic work the PA are doing to raise funds for our school. We wanted to take this opportunity to remind you about the Match Funding scheme and how a little bit of your time could raise double the funds for the PA - how fantastic would that be?
We are looking to harness support for future fundraising events by kindly asking you to check whether your employer operates, or is interested in running, a match giving scheme. Please take a moment to approach your boss or do a quick internet search, which will give you a list of companies or organisations that have beenknown to match fund. It's often just a case of asking your HR about it - it's not complicated and will cost you nothing other than some time to talk to your employer.
Your employer may be able to support your parents association in other ways too, such as providing raffle or auction prizes.
Please take the time to check with your employer and contact us if you are able to help. Many thanks in anticipation of your support.

We've set up the lottery to specifically raise money for our school and to make a difference to the children. It's a fantastic way to bring parents, carers, teachers and the wider community together, in partnership with our school whilst also being able to give something back. We hope to raise funds that can support and enrich the education of our children.

Got any spare rolls of wrapping paper left over from all your Christmas wrapping? Don't despair, we can give them a very good home! We get through a HUGE amount of wrapping paper at our Christmas Bazaar when wrapping all your thoughtfully chosen gifts by your lovely children so please bear us in mind once you've finished your Christmas wrapping and donate any left over rolls of paper to us. Just pop them into school for the PA to store ready for use at our Christmas bazaar next year!
We also need the front part of your used Christmas cards when you're ready to recycle them as we recycle these as gift tags at our Christmas Bazaar, so please send these into us too.

WANTED FOR OUR SCHOOL UNIFORM SALE
If you are having a sort out of old school uniforms during the holiday, please save them for the PA to sell!
We will only be selling uniform that is washed, ironed and in a sellable condition with no stains or rips. Please remove name labels or obscure the name if written or ironed anywhere on the clothing.
The photos below are a guide as to what we will be selling. We will accept PE kit but are unable to accept blouses/shirts, black trousers, pinafore dresses or skirts - sorry.
Please pass your donations to the school office where a member of the PA will be collecting them from Monday 7th January 2019.

Thanks to your support in raising funds for our fabulous school, we were able to treat all of the children to the brilliant 'Bubble Wizard' as an end of term Christmas treat!
The children were fascinated by the giant Star Wars bubble 'dancing', Harry Potter 'magic smoke' creations and bubbles big enough to hold people inside!
The children cheered to vote for staff volunteers to be enclosed in the giant bubbles and then a boy and girl from each show were chosen to do it too! Lots of extremely noisy and bubbly fun was had by all!

This is our fourth victory in a row and it's ALL THANKS TO YOU AND YOUR LOVELY CHILDREN. The cork decorations your children created were full of imagination and made with love and care.

Step into a magical world as the annual Christmas tree festival begins at Holy Trinity Church on Thursday 29th November through to Sunday 2nd December.
We are astounded by the sheer number and quality of the children's cork decorations this year and thank you all for your creative cork decorations and support - we couldn't do it without you. Please take a moment to pop into the Church to see the beautiful forest of Christmas trees and vote for our schools tree. All monies raised help support the Church charity and EFPA have purchased our tree out of our funds raised so that we can enter this fun, festive competition. Can you spot your child's decoration?
