The beans are out and ready to be collected if you would like to grow a plant and happen to be walking near the park. Please observe social distancing and don't all go immediately - just if you are out for your exercise, and please wash your hands when returning home, or use hand gel.

Thank you,

Mrs Humphreys

From here on, you will find a weekly document that outlines the suggested learning for the week. This may be too much for some children, so just do as much as you feel is appropriate for your child.

Stay in touch and stay safe!

Planning, activities and videos for week commencing 20th April 2020

Dear Children,

As you are going to have to stay at home for a while, we wanted to let you know about some things that you could do at home:

Reading

Phonics

  • Use phonicsplay.com to play games, practise your phase 5 sounds every day if you can (these are the really tricky ones!)
  • I have put a little tutorial for you on how to use Phonics Play at:

https://www.loom.com/share/6b3cd94a07394571b2aac1c18e198567

  • You can access it for free using these login details:

Username: march20

 Password: home

  • Phonics mats and activities can also be found on Twinkl

Spelling

  • Use your home-school booklets to be able to read and spell all of the words within it by the end of the year.
  • Use Spelling Shed to practise your phonics and spellings (https://play.edshed.com/)

Mathematics

  • Use you home-school programme number grid to immediately recognise the numbers up to 30 at least, ideally 100. Practise writing them in digits and in words. (Please find it below to download)
  • Practise adding and taking way to 30 using your number line or a number grid.
  • Use Numbots to practise your number bonds (https://play.ttrockstars.com/auth/school/student/20386) and practise counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. Some of you might even want to start learning the 2, 5 and 10 timestables.
  • Here are some tutorials for some games we have played at school:

Other suggestions

  • Look on the school website for any activities that we have put on, and any tutorial video links that we make that you can watch, in order to practise the year 1 curriculum at home (these will be on youtube, so please make sure that a responsible adult supervises your access to them)
  • Spend time being active either inside or outside in the garden exploring (your garden will be starting to change and grow at the moment; flying insects will start to make an appearance - we will be studying plants next term, can you take photos of, draw pictures of, write about the changes happening in your garden)
  • The Scouts have created a part of their website that is dedicated to fun and interesting activities that can be done indoors: https://www.scouts.org.uk/the-great-indoors/ Take a look!
  • Do the 30-day Lego challenge!

We hope that you all keep well and these activities help you to keep learning!
