he Cliff's Pavilion are offering discounted tickets to the pupils of Edward Francis Junior School for a concert by the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio on 31st October 2010.
The theatre tells us:
The Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra was awarded the distinction from the Russian Government of being renamed the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio due to their great contribution to Russian music. Since then, they have toured the world performing definitive interpretations of Tchaikovsky's orchestral music. IN their visit to the Cliffs' Pavilion under their principal guest conductor Terje Mikkelsen, they will play the 19th century composer Ole Olsen's rarely performed dramatic orchestral tone poem and Sibelius' ethereal Violin Concerto. The programme will conclude with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, with its haunting horn passages in the symphony's famous Adagio and its elemental finale with its epic climax...
Tickets would normally cost £28.50 and £15.00 for students, but you can purchase them at a cost of £10.00 per ticket. Either ring the box office on 01702 351135 or visit in person and quote Edward Francis Junior School (music co-ordinator Miss Jeffryes) to receive your discounted tickets!
We may have been rained off the first time, but our Fun Walk in aid of Shelterbox went ahead on our second attempt on Wednesday 13th October.
It was wonderful to see so many children dressed up based on this years theme of Earth, Wind, Fire & Water.
Some of the costumes were very imaginative, and must have taken the children and the parents quite a while to put together.
Thank you for all the effort that was put in at home.
Also thank you to the many of you who turned up at the event and walked round with the children, or helped out at the class check points!
Below are a selection of photographs taken on the day.
It is always great to see so many of you at our school events.
As you know, the Fun Walk, as well as being fun, is to raise money for charity.
On this point we hope the children / you are able to collect any sponsorship money and return it to the school as soon as you're able.
Thank you again for helping us to raise money for such a worthwhile charity.
