he Cliff's Pavilion are offering discounted tickets to the pupils of Edward Francis Junior School for a concert by the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio on 31st October 2010.
The theatre tells us:
The Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra was awarded the distinction from the Russian Government of being renamed the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio due to their great contribution to Russian music. Since then, they have toured the world performing definitive interpretations of Tchaikovsky's orchestral music. IN their visit to the Cliffs' Pavilion under their principal guest conductor Terje Mikkelsen, they will play the 19th century composer Ole Olsen's rarely performed dramatic orchestral tone poem and Sibelius' ethereal Violin Concerto. The programme will conclude with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, with its haunting horn passages in the symphony's famous Adagio and its elemental finale with its epic climax...

The Cliff's Pavilion are offering discounted tickets to the pupils of Edward Francis Junior School for a concert by the Philharmonia Orchestra on October 8th at 7.30 pm.
The theatre tells us:
Conducted by the distinguished Finnish conductor Leif Segerstam performing and all Russian programme. The concert will start with the 1919 Suite from Stravinky's ballet the Firebird composed for the Paris Opera. This will be followed by a rising new German-Japanese star, Alice Sara Ott who will perform Rachmaninov's colourful Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. The concert will end with Mussorgsky's sumptuous orchestral masterpiece, his Pictures at an Exhibition in the Ravel orchestration.
