• Parents in Maths Week 2012

  Dear Parents and Carers,

   

  I would like to invite you to a “Parents in Maths Classes” week. This will be taking place the week beginning 19^th November and will give parents and carers the opportunity to attend a Maths class with their child. We ran this very successfully in the previous Junior School when it was very well attended by parents and we hope many of you will take the opportunity to take part this year in the Primary School.

   

  The grids below show the times of each class maths lesson during that week - please fill in the form sent home on 6th November with your 1st,  2nd and 3rd choice of lesson and send back to school by Friday 9th November.

   

  Times will be allocated in order of returned forms to the school.

• Primary School opening event

  Thank you to everybody that attended yesterday's opening event - particularly those that assisted with the inflation of the many balloons that were released.  Pictures taken by the school are below - we expect the event to be covered in the Evening Echo in the next couple of days.

• Y6 Osmington Bay trip

  The coach carrying the children is on the M25.  Traffic is heavy but moving.  The estimated time of arrival is now 6.45pm however, this may change.  This message will be updated throughout the evening - please do not telephone the school for this information.
  
  This evening, we ask parents to park away from the school site and then wait in the school car park (not on Uplands Park Road). When the coach arrives we will bring the children into the school car park to be reunited with parents and unload bags from the coach. 

   

  

• Children's Book Festival

  The Forum (the new library in Southend) is celebrating its opening with a festival for young readers. There are visiting authors providing talks, activities and book signings.

• BOOKS NEEDED!

  If you have any books in a reasonable condition (both fiction and non-fiction) that you are clearing out to the charity shop, please think of us first. Our library is due to expand and we are in need of additional books. Please bring any books to Mrs Humphreys.

• Bouncy fun day CANCELLED

  Due to the adverse weather and the wet field, the parent association have again decided to cancel today's Bouncy Fun day.  The parent association apologises for any inconvenience that this causes.

• Team photographs

  Team photographs that are being sold for 50p each are below.  As said on tonight's newsletter, if you would like to place an order please send the money in an envelope detailing which photographs that you want, marking the envelope with your child's name and class.

  

• District sports - we're going for it!

  There's been lots of rain overnight and if we were running on grass the event would have been cancelled by now.  But we've done lots of practices, the track will be quite dry and we have no reserve date as it so close to the end of the year so - we're going for it!  Races start at 10am.  Children should come to school at the normal time and will make their way to Garons on coach.

• Sports day 5th July - we're going for it!

  Whilst the weather forecast for tomorrow is not fantastic, we are hoping that it will be good enough for long enough to hold our sports day.  We hope to begin at 9.15am with the children enjoying a ‘round-robin’ of multi skills activities in their class groups followed by a number of exciting relay races and a presentation.  We expect to finish at around 12pm at which point parents will be expected to leave the site.  The children will represent their house groups and if possible we would like the children to wear a coloured top to show their house.  The colours are as follows:

   

   

   

  Mill:   yellow              Chase:  red                Mount:  green                        Lodge:  blue

   

   

   

   

  The children should know which house they belong to but if there are any queries, please contact their class teacher.  We would like the children to wear their normal P.E. shorts and have a water bottle.  We hope to offer refreshments to the adults.
