  • Osmington Bay - return arrangements (updated 6pm)

    Fri 13 Sep 2013
The coach carrying the year 6 children is now on the A127 and we expect that the coach will arrive at the school at around 6.30pm.

This evening, we ask parents to park away from the school site and then wait in the school car park (not on Uplands Park Road). When the coach arrives we will bring the children into the school car park to be reunited with parents and unload bags from the coach.

  • Free ebooks

    Tue 10 Sep 2013
It would appear that the publishers of the majority of our reading books (Oxford University Press) have published ebooks which are free to download and tablet friendly. I thought I'd share the weblink in case it is of use to any of our parents.

If you use any of the books and have recommendations for other parents once you have had a play, please email me so I can offer your advice to other parents.

    Thank you,
    Mrs Humphreys (vhumphreys@edwardfrancis.essex.sch.uk)

  • The Keymaster

    Mon 15 Jul 2013
This week showcased the amazing talents of the Year 6 and 5 children in their performance of The Keymaster.

If you were lucky enough to attend one of the shows, I am sure will agree the children outdid themselves with amazing acting and superb singing.

A big thank you to all the adults involved in prop making / organising, rehearsing, make-up and producing & directing such a wonderful show.

But even more than that, a massive WELL DONE to all the children.

It was definitely a show to remember.
  • Ofsted report - June 2013

    Thu 27 Jun 2013
Please find below the report produced by Ofsted following their recent inspection at the school on the 18th and 19th June.
The school has undergone big changes and we are delighted to achieve such a positive outcome so soon after the amalgamation. Recent media coverage may have made you aware that the standards that Ofsted expect are higher than they have ever been.
    I am extremely grateful to:
    ·         Our children who were magnificent during the visit and instrumental in our award of ‘outstanding’ for pupil behaviour and safety
    ·         Parents who gave such favourable feedback to the inspectors
    ·         The staff who continue to work extremely hard for our children.
    ·         The governing body for their support to myself and the school as a whole.

Following this positive report, we are keen to address the areas for development and work towards being ‘outstanding’!

  • New building plans

    Fri 17 May 2013
We have received planning permission to make a number of building improvements. Amongst other things we will be joining the school buildings with a short corridor and moving the main office to a more central, easier to access location. Building plans for the project can be seen below. We are hoping that these improvements will be complete by the time the children return after the summer holiday. In order for this to happen, building work will have to begin during the half-term break and continue for the remainder of the summer term. This will cause some inconvenience and we apologise in advance for this:
    • The central gate (between the school buildings) will be inaccessible. Parents who wish to come into the school office must use the lower school gate. Children and parents will not be able to use the central gate to leave the site at the end of the day
    • Part of the school car park will be fenced off for use by the contractor meaning that it will be more congested than usual. It is therefore even more important that parents do not come into the school car park without permission.
    • Obviously, safety for the users of the site will be paramount. We would appreciate it if you could speak to your child(ren) about the dangers of building sites.
